Other islands in the archipelago also produce interesting wines. This fruity young wine is from Tacoronte, which has it’s own denominación of origin, on Tenerife. It’s a pleasant, young red, wine for hot summer evenings. The winery recomends a 14 degree drinking temperature, but 13-, or even 12 degree would also work well on a hot summer day in paradise. Young wines have less tannins and therefore an alcoholic taste could be more noticed. The cool temperature of the wine will reduce that.
This wine is made from 95% Listan Negro and 5% Negramoll. It has a beautiful intense red color. The wine is balanced, but has a slight sweetness to it from the fruity aftertaste, especially when you drink it cold. It’s a medium body wine that has notes of red currant and rasberry. The wine is somewhat in-between elegant and table-style. It has a slight tannic finish that feels pleasant and also balance out the sweet sensation of the wine.
Bodegas Tenerife Insulares is made up by 660 partners that grow Listan Negro and Negramoll. This is one of the few more commercial wine producers in the canary islands. However, it also means the price, 7 euro, is around half of the small wineries.
Cheers,
Gustaf
